Question Analysis:
This can feel like a trick question, especially if the first answer that enters into your mind is along the lines of “not in this job,” or, “in your job,” or even “at a bigger, better opportunity elsewhere.” Of course, you don’t want to say any of those things.
You can be honest about your aspirations while still telling an interviewer what they really want to know. Think about where this position could realistically take you, and think about how it aligns with some of your broader professional goals. Position yourself as being open minded about opportunities and potentials that include a possible long-term commitment when there’s a good fit.
